When you want breadsticks in a hurry, this fast breadstick recipe is a great option. You can have hot breadsticks in under 30 minutes. The dough is also great for quick pizza or even dessert pizza!

Units Scale

For breadsticks

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (see note)
  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar (or less)
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt

For Topping

  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt (more/less)
  • melted butter, Salad Supreme, garlic salt, Parmesan cheese or a combination

1. Run tap water until it is very warm to the touch. You know the water is the right temperature when it is hot but you can still have your finger under it without getting burned. Fill up a liquid measuring cup with 1 1/2 cups warm water. Stir in 1 Tablespoon yeast. Add 2 Tablespoons sugar (or honey). Place this all in a Bosch (*aff. link)   or stand mixer or you can mix by hand in a mixing bowl.

2. Let the yeast dissolve completely, about 2-3 minutes. The mixture will be slightly foamy.

3. Stir in 4 cups all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix until all combined and a soft dough forms. If using a Bosch (*aff. link)  , the sides will come completely clean, but the dough will be sightly sticky to the touch.

4. Grease a baker's half sheet (*aff. link)   and dust with flour. Roll the dough directly on the cookie sheet (*aff. link)  . Press until the dough fills the entire pan.

5. Melt butter. Spread over all the dough and then sprinkle with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. See notes for other topping ideas.

6. Let the dough rise for about 20 minutes. (Feel free to let it rise longer if you have more. The longer it rises, the fluffier it will be.)

7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, until light golden brown. Cut and serve.

Topping combos: garlic salt and Parmesan cheese, pizza sauce and mozarella cheese, butter and cinnamon/sugar, Salad Supreme and garlic salt
