How to make breadsticks
Follow these steps to make this fast breadstick recipe.
Step 1- Dissolve yeast in water.
Dissolve yeast in warm water. I run water out of the tap until it is almost hot, but still not too hot that you burn your finger. Sprinkle yeast and sugar into the water.
Step 2- Stir in flour and salt.
After the yeast mixture has dissolved, stir in flour and salt. Use a bread hook to mix the dough until a soft dough forms.
If mixing by hand, continue kneading for a few minutes until the dough forms. The dough might be slightly sticky. That's ok. Do not add more flour.
Step 3- Place dough in pan and rise.
Melt butter and spread on the dough. Sprinkle with seasonings of choice. Let rise for at least 20 minutes, but the longer, the more light and fluffy the breadsticks will be.
Step 4- Bake.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 12 minutes. The best quick breadsticks are done when they are a light brown.
After the breadsticks have cooled for a few minutes, use a pizza cutter to slice into breadsticks. Easy peasy! You didn't have to form each individual breadstick.
The great thing about this bread recipe is that you can use it for both breadsticks and pizza or even dessert pizza!
For pizza, spread this pizza sauce and mozarella cheese and toppings. Bake for an extra few mintues.
For dessert pizza, top with melted butter and cinnamon sugar. After baking, let the dessert pizza cool for about 5 minutes. Then mix 1 Tablespoon of milk with ½ cup powdered sugar for a quick glaze.
Do I have to use a Bosch?
I absolutely love my Bosch mixer and use it a few times a week. However, if you don't have a Bosch or a Kitchenaid, you can definitely make this quick breadstick recipe by hand. Just mix well for a few minutes by hand until a soft dough forms. (The dough will be slightly sticky.)
