Easy Valentine's Day Dessert
There is so much to love about Valentine's Day...leaving punny love notes around the house, playing Valentines minute to win it games, and leaving love gifts on pillows to name just a few of our favorite Valentines's Day traditions.
If you ask my kids what they love about Valentine's Day, they will say the Valentine Cookie Cake or pizookie we share after dinner.
What is a pizookie?
Pizookie is the word you get when you mix pizza and cookie together. This pizza-sized cookie is usually served warm in a cast-iron skillet with ice cream on top.
I found this adorable red heart pan at a thrift store years ago and now my kids love indulging in the warm heart-shaped cookie straight from it.
What is another name for a pizookie?
Pizookie is also called chocolate chip skillet cookie or pizzookie (like a combination of pizza and cookie).
No matter what you want to call this cookie heart, one thing is for sure: a Valentine's dessert can't get much easier than this!

Here's what you need for heart-shaped cookie cake:
Step 1: Prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough.
Prepare the dough according to the directions below. This step can be done a few days in advance. Keep the dough chilled in the fridge until you are ready to bake.
Step 2: Put the dough into the heart-shaped pan.
Once you are ready to bake, preheat the oven. Press the cookie dough firmly into the cake pan. I like to use about 1-1.5" of dough.
Any thicker will take longer to bake and might be too dough. But you do whatever you prefer.
Step 3: Bake.
Bake the cookie heart for about 10 minutes. Then check. You want the skillet cookie to be mostly cooked, but slightly on the doughy side.
Cook time will vary depending on how thick you pressed the dough into the pan. Bake for an additional few minutes if needed.
Step 4: Top with vanilla ice cream & enjoy warm.
Let the pizookie cool just a few minutes, but not too long. The key to a great cookie skillet is eating it warm and gooey. However, letting it cool slightly will help the ice cream not melt into a soupy puddle before you have time eat it.
Drizzle with this homemade hot fudge sauce for extra goodness.
