Want to plan a simple family back to school dinner? Here's some simple and fun ideas!
Back To School Dinner
One of our favorite back to school traditions is having a back to school feast the night before school starts!
Since my kids are still little, I keep our family dinner very simple. I pull out a few basic decorations, pick some wild sunflowers to use as a centerpiece and make a meal everyone loves.

We usually have a backwards dinner (here are all the details) since my kids loving eating dessert first!
This is such a fun way to kick off a new school year.

Family Theme
I like to pick a scripture for our family to memorize throughout the school year. We will repeat this nightly before our family prayer and by the end of the year, have it memorized!
I want them to leave home with a whole collection of good scriptures engrained in their heart.
Our theme for 2021 school year was "I would that ye should do GOOD that it may be said of you."

Back To School Dinner Menu
My kid's love having a backwards dinner for our back to school feast. That means dessert first!
I set out rice krispy treat apples and Trader Joe's alphabet cookies spelled in their names as the place cards.
- "Apple" rice krispy treats
- Trader Joe's alphabet cookies (their names spelled backwards)
- Homemade macaroni n' cheese
- Carrots and cucumbers
