easy buttercream frosting that is great for cookies and cakes


  • 1 cup salted butter, chilled (let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes)
  • 5 cups powdered sugar, measured and then sifted
  • 3 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, ceam the butter for about 2 minutes until nice and fluffy.
  2. Slowly add the powdered sugar.
  3. Add the cream and vanilla and mix on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Before using, use a wooden spoon to mix out the air pockets.
  5. Spread on cakes or cookies. 


  • Add food coloring to color the frosting.
