7-LAYER DIP INGREDIENTS
Here’s what you’ll need for your 7-layer dip with black beans. Feel free to sub out any layers you don’t like.
- Black beans
- Sour cream
- Salsa (your favorite heat)
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped olives
HOW TO MAKE THIS CHIP DIP IN UNDER 10 MINUTES
The great thing about this chip dip recipes is that it is very easy to make, especially if you use a few tricks and shortcuts.
- Buy pre-made guacamole
- Buy shredded cheese
- Use canned black beans
You can make this 7-layer Mexican dip up to a day in advance, but the ingredients can be chopped and prepped early as well, so if you want to prep it just before your gathering, that’s fine, too!
I always use this tomato dicer to get my chopped tomatoes uniform in size (plus it has them all cut in about 5 seconds!)

Delicious 7-layer bean dip that’s perfect for Cinco de Mayo and parties! Make it in mini cups for personalized portions or in a 9×9 dish.
- 1 can Black beans, rinsed and drained
- 2–3 ripe avocados or already made guacamole
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 oz. salsa, heat of your choise
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 Tomatoes, diced
- 3 oz. chopped olives
- Tortilla chips
Rinse and drain the black beans.
If using avacados, peel and mash until it becomes guacamole.
For individual servings, layer in a small clear, plastic cup in this order: black beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheddar cheese, chopped tomatoes, and olives.
Place a few chips in the top for garnish. Serve with an additional bowl of chips.
For a 9×9 dish, layer all ingredients in the same order.
If you prefer refried beans, feel free to sub out the black beans.
