Kick off a new school year with a fun Back to School Backwards Dinner! Your kids will love eating dessert first! Here's a simple family-friendly menu plus decoration ideas to help you plan a back to school party easily!
HOW TO DO A BACK TO SCHOOL BACKWARDS DINNER
If your family loves to celebrate the beginning of a new school year with a Back to School Feast, try having a Backwards Dinner to switch things up a bit!
You can still have all the fun by decorating with school-themed party supplies, but eating in reverse order (yes that means dessert first!) and having other backwards elements, will make it a night to remember.
And if your kids are anything like mine, they may just request a Backwards Dinner every year!
EASY BACK-TO-SCHOOL PARTY DECOR
Our first back to school backwards dinner was super fun! We ate these easy & adorable apple cupcakes first, then enjoyed homemade baked mac n' cheese and salad. However, it didn't even cross my mind to decorate backwards for the occasion! (Although we did dress backwards).
So the next time we had another backwards dinner, I thought it would be fun to decorate backwards!
BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY TABLE IDEAS
To create a simple tablescape, pull out a felt letter board or chalkboard and write "KCAB 2 LOOHCS" on it.
Pull out whatever other school supplies you have and viola! You've got a festive table spread!
Since you are going to be eating dessert first, be sure to set out the dessert! It can double as part of the decor.
Pick up some cute Hello, My Name is... signs and write everyone's name on them backwards for simple place cards.
BACK TO SCHOOL DINNER MENU
Our menu this year consisted of a "school-lunch" themed menu including:
- peanut butter bars
- tater tots & chicken nuggets
- corn on the cob
- milk with striped paper straws
We always choose a family theme to memorize and this year it was" Be Ye Kind One to Another". I wrote that on our giant chalkboard in the background.
And there you have it! A super fun backwards party!
