So birthdays have always been a big deal for me. My parents made our birthdays super special. It wasn't with elaborate or expensive friend parties, but rather by spoiling us all day with love, read: making our favorite meals, my dad decorating a cake for us, opening a few gifts, and spending the day as a family. And we can't forget the birthday fairy visiting!
It wasn't until I moved away to college that I realized that not all birthdays are celebrated equally. I thought everyone looked forward to their birthday. How heartbroken I was to hear some say, "A birthday is just like any other day." Sad, huh??
I had one terrible, horrible, no good birthday in particular. I ended up singing Happy Birthday to myself and blowing out a paper candle I stuck into a candy bar. I vowed from that day on that I would try to make people's birthdays special as much as I could.
With a growing family and limited time, I can't always do as much for my friends and extended family as I would like, but there are still some simple and inexpensive ways to tell someone Happy Birthday and make their day!
Hallmark has a new line of birthday cards that start at just 47 cents at Walmart! If making cards isn't practical for you, pick some up at while you are doing your normal shopping!
And while you are at it, you can also get some fun birthday gifts to pair with the Hallmark birthday cards . That makes the birthday card and gift less than $4 each (with many of the gift ideas below only a few dollars.)
Since themed gifts take gift-giving up a notch, here are some themed gifts that go along perfectly with the Hallmark birthday cards that were just 47 cents!
Hallmark birthday card + candle
Hallmark birthday card + body wash
Hallmark birthday card + candy
Hallmark birthday card + hand soap
Hallmark birthday card + birthday in a bag: candles, balloons, and a package of cupcake papers
Hallmark birthday card + chocolate milk and donuts
Hallmark birthday card + sidewalk chalk
Hallmark card + cupcake from the bakery
Now isn't that easy? You can really make a neighbor, friend, roommate, sibling or co-worker's day with a Hallmark birthday card and inexpensive gift.
Don't forget to check out the entire line of Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents and let me know which ones are your favorites!
