Birthdays Kid Parties Party Themes

A Little Miss First Birthday Party

My baby girl turned 1 last month. We’ve always called her Little Miss Evelyn and I’ve always loved the Little Miss books. So  I knew I had to do a “little party” for her for her first birthday. My general rule for birthdays is that I don’t want to spend the entire day preparing for a party (instead of spending time with the birthday person), so I got as much ready ahead of time as I could.

We had little foods that she would like: little pulled pork sandwiches, little noodles (homemade mac n’ cheese) with little forks, little drinks, and little cupcakes. I made a little cake for her to eat and boy, did she devour it up like there was no tomorrow.

We had just a few presents for her and watched a little slide show of her. I can’t believe it’s already been one year!

^the first thing she did when she woke up was find quarters in her birthday shoe and then it was off to play with balloons!

I’m so grateful for such a sweet, sweet little girl in my life.

Melissa loves simply celebrating life through holidays, travel, photography, and the simple moments at home. Her best friend Brandon and her are raising their 4 adorable little ones just north of Salt Lake City, UT. Sunshine, gelato, a good run, planning a trip, and an organized house make her really happy. She loves sharing simple ideas to inspire everyone to celebrate life. Simply.

(I’m Hollie’s friend and love to do parties as well).
Do you have a go to cake recipe you do for their first birthday? Do you do it healthy at all? So fun to see your website.

For my kid’s first birthdays, I usually do a box cake because it’s quicker and simpler! But instead of making an entire cake for them, I make a mini cake for them to smash. I don’t think they need an entire cake to eat after having no sugar for the first year! If you make a cake from scratch, you could do a banana cake with some wheat flour to make it healthier. So happy to have you here! Hollie just loves you!
