FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE? REALLY?
Say what? Frozen hot chocolate? Isn’t that a little ironic? Keep reading, because you are in for a treat.
Frozen hot chocolate has all the deliciousness of hot cocoa, but with an icy, refreshing twist to it. Which means that you don’t need to wait until winter to get your fill of hot cocoa in.
You might be familiar with Frozen Hot Chocolate if you’ve seen the movie Serendipity set in New York City. Or you have been to that darling, eclectic cafe called Serendipity (which is one of our favorite cheap places to eat in New York City.)
Frozen hot chocolate is one of their most popular dessert items. And let me tell you, it’s delicious. (My daughter and I tried it on our NYC Christmas trip which I share all about here).
However, you don’t need to take a trip to the Big Apple to enjoy this tasty drink.
You can make it in your own kitchen with just a few ingredients!
HOW TO MAKE FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE, THE SIMPLE WAY
You can search the internet high and low for copycat recipes of this hot chocolate.
And you’ll find them.
However, if you’re looking for a simple version of Frozen Hot Chocolate you don’t need to look any further. Many of the other recipes you’ll find require lots of steps and subsequently, more time.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE
To make this refreshing drink that’s good any time during the year, all you’ll need is:

- milk (or almond milk)
- blender (I use and love this one!)
- whip cream, optional
- striped straw or candy cane for extra festiveness
EASY AS 1-2-3
This icy, chocolately goodness will take less than 5 minutes to make! That’s pretty awesome when you need a quick treat for a party. Or late-night snack.
Pull out your best blender and add in the milk, hot chocolate mix, and ice. Turn the blender on high and let it chop up the ice well.
Depending on your blender, you may need to stop and give the ice a good stir so that it becomes well-mixed. You don’t want big chunks of ice in your drink!
Once the mixture has become well blended (without any big ice chunks), pour the icy, frozen hot chocolate into glasses or mugs. I’d recommend using clear cups or glasses since you want to show off your hard work. (Haha!)
If you plan to serve them at a party, use disposable plastic cups to serve so that your guests can toss them when done.
Just before serving, top with Reddi-wip or another spray whip cream. Then add a festive straw or candy cane to make your drink more fun!
HOT CHOCOLATE CAN NOW BE ENJOYED ALL YEAR LONG!
Whoever says you can only drink hot chocolate in the winter is wrong! 🙂 I served this Frozen Hot Chocolate at our Christmas in July party and they were a hit!
Save this recipe for a party or midnight snack. You’ll thank me later!
It will quickly become a favorite go-to party drink!
