Frozen Hot Chocolate? Really?
Say what? Frozen hot chocolate? Isn’t that a little ironic? Keep reading, because you are in for a treat.
Frozen hot chocolate has all the deliciousness of hot cocoa, but with an icy, refreshing twist to it.
If I remember right, the cute little Serendipity restaurant in NYC made frozen hot chocolate ever so popular. If you search for frozen hot chocolate recipes, you’ll find them indeed. While you may find a good copycat recipe like this one from Smitten, I’m all about simple here on So Festive! And that’s why you are going to love my version of frozen hot chocolate.
Simple Frozen Hot Chocolate
What makes this recipe so “cool?” Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
- You can make this icy drink in less than 5 minutes.
- You probably have all the ingredients in your pantry (with exception to the cream.)
- It tastes delicious and has a frothy, icy consistency perfect for a treat.
What you need to make Frozen Hot Chocolate
To make this refreshing drink that’s good any time during the year, all you’ll need is:
- your favorite hot cocoa mix (or try this easy 4-ingredient homemade hot cocoa mix recipe here)
- milk (or almond milk)
- blender (I use and love this one!)
- whip cream
- striped straw or candy cane for extra festiveness
How to Make Frozen Hot Chocolate
This icy, chocolately goodness will take less than 5 minutes to make! That’s pretty awesome when you need a quick treat for a party. Or late-night snack.
You’ll toss all the ingredients in the blender, except the whipped cream. Depending on your blender, you may need to stop and give the ice a good stir so that it becomes well-mixed. You don’t want big chunks of ice in your drink!
Then pour the icy, frozen hot chocolate into glasses or mugs. I’d recommend using clear cups since you want to show off your hard work. (Haha!)
Finally, top with Reddi-wip or another spray whip cream. Then add a festive straw or candy cane.
