Every party needs a theme, for sure! While this might seem overwhelming to come up with a theme, it really will help you stay focused through all the other aspects of planning your party.
And just because you have a theme, doesn't mean it needs to be an official theme.
How to Choose a Party Theme
When you are trying to pick a theme, consider this:
1. What are you celebrating?
The type of theme you choose should match the celebration. If you are celebrating a birthday, you can pick a theme that matches the personality of the birthday person. Or if you are planning a grand event such as a wedding, you may have to consider a lot more elements for the event to be a success, including a venue, theme, wedding outfits, guest list, decor, catering, flowers, and more.
2. Pick an Age-Appropriate Theme.
Don't have a car party for a teenager. Likewise, having a spa party is probably not a good idea for 3-year-olds. Choosing a perfect theme for any party is essential since every age group should enjoy it. Moreover, ensure that you serve food and drinks at the party accordingly.
For instance, if you are planning an all-adult party, provide choices for other indulgences as well, such as alcoholic drinks, cocktails, and perhaps CBD products like weed, gummies, cannabis-infused beverages, etc. You can get such products online, sold by vendors similar to 420Now, and host a party that everyone will remember for years to come.
Party themes can make the events fun and lively as well as provide people a chance to enjoy themselves. Moreover, themes for an occasion like a wedding ceremony can make the whole event vibrant and memorable for the couple as well as for the guests. Deciding on a wedding theme, however, may also depend on the venue selected for the ceremony. For instance, if you have booked a venue at the crescent beach club or a similar location with a beach backdrop, you may have to go for colors like lilac, sea green, aqua, or white and accordingly set a theme. All this might be a bit of extra work for you as a party host, but it will be worth it in the end when the whole event comes to life, and you might have created the best memories of your life.
3. If you don't want a specific theme, just pick one or two colors to decorate with and go from there.
For example, if you choose Black and White for your unofficial theme, use napkins, plates, decorations, invitations, favors that are all black and white. Check out my Pinterest Party Theme Board for more inspiration.
Remember, themes don't have to be elaborate. They can be as simple or as complex as you want to make them.
4. Use the seasons to help you pick a theme.
When deciding a theme, use seasonal objects and weather to help you out. For example, if you are having a baby shower, let us show you how you could theme your baby shower depending on each season:
Winter- "Baby It's Cold Outside"
Spring- "April Showers"
Summer- "Ahoy, It's a Boy" Nautical Baby Shower
Fall- " A Little Pumpkin is on the Way"
Using the seasons can help you narrow down your options. Plus, it will be easier to find decorations when they are in season! Additionally, you can hire newborn photographers in Raleigh for your party for a remembrance.
If you are planning an outdoor party, be sure you have made all the arrangements for extra amenities like seating arrangement, canopy setup, and outdoor food catering. In the event of an electrical outage, make sure you have a backup plan for using portable generators such as the generac iq3500. Besides that, you can also ensure that your guests have been provided with the necessary parking arrangements.
Incorporate Party Elements into Your Theme
Once you have decided on your theme, you can tailor your party elements to coordinate with the theme as well as age-appropriate items. For a kid's birthday, you can get essentials such as cake, balloons, colorful decorations, etc. Whereas, for a bachelor's party, you could arrange alcoholic drinks or CBD products (look for cheap concentrates online canada or elsewhere), along with lavish cuisines, adult fun games, and more. Not every party will have all of these, but these are some party essentials that you can customize to match your party theme:
- Cake
- Balloons
- Decorations
- Food
- Tablecloths
- Napkins and Plates
- Invitations
- Party Favors
