Nautical Baby Shower Preparation
I put together a Nautical Baby Shower for one of my best friends. She is having her third boy. Anyone who has three boys should have a celebration. We did a lot of planning, starting with cleaning. I am not joking when I say we had to scrub and organize the place for days. Living with two kids and no help can turn the place upside down. We were apprehensive about the bed bugs on the sofa and wondered whether to hire one of those bed bug dog inspection services to be sure. Unfortunately, there was no time, so we decided not to. Once all the arrangements were ready, the place did look super good. I am quite proud of the decoration, to be frank!
Nautical Baby Shower Invitations
I created my own Nautical Baby Shower Invitations using fun phrases like:
- Come and sea!
- Sea fare and a boatload of fun included!
Small details like this will set the fun tone for your baby shower.
Here's already-made Ahoy It's a Boy Invitations
Decoration Ideas
We kept our baby shower very simple, with the food as the decorations!
Nautical Baby Shower Menu
We called our food Sea Fare. Here's the line-up:
- Crab Sandwiches (chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, made to look like crabs)
- Sea Salt Kettle Chips
- Anchor Apple Salad
- Goldfish Crackers
- Starfish Sugar Cookies (using this soft sugar cookie recipe )
- Lighthouse Lemonade
Lighthouse Lemonade + Goldfish
We tied cute ribbon around the straws and served the goldfish crackers in fish-bowl like bowls, which can be found at a dollar store.
Crab Sandwiches
For the crab sandwiches, we purchased croissants from a local bakery and made chicken salad to fill them.
Where to get Crab eyes
I've had lots of questions about what I used for the crab eyes. The ones I used were just paper with a marker dot attached to a toothpick. I totally spaced buying candy eyes and so this was my last minute attempt before the guests arrived.
In the future, I would use edible eyes like these or these .
Nautical Themed Party Favors
Since it was a nautical themed shower, we used salt water taffy as the favor.
The following poem was attached to the taffy (all the guests were very close friends):
There are those who pass like ships in the night,
Who meet for a moment, then sail out of sight
With never a backward glance of regret,
Folks we know briefly then quickly forget.
Then there are friends who sail together,
Through quiet waters and stormy weather,
Helping each other through joy and through strife.
They are the kind that give meaning to life.
We had so much fun putting this nautical themed baby shower together. Let us know if you have any questions.

I spaced buying candy eyes before the event so I used paper, but in the future, I would buy edible candy eyes like these-- https://amzn.to/2cFh3C9. They are cuter and a lot simpler!
